Similar to what I had in mind, but I note the caveat!

Hard to say at the moment. I asked the previous maintainer about this and he 
could only think of a couple of things that use the extensions, both of 
which I could happily drop. But then he may not be aware of which do and 
which don't as he may not have used any other platform.

I do like the publishing mechanism, and I also like the WYSIWYG laying out, 
so conceivably I could keep it (having paid a lot of money for the 
tool :-( ) and just not use the extensions.

Aside: can anyone say what FP extensions actually are?
