[Sheflug] Assistance required with industrial HMI design - embedded Linux

I'm currently migrating some existing projects to Linux & could do with some help on the operator interface front ends of my industrial applications. I've got enough to do on the embedded hardware design and migrating the control software.

I'm looking for someone with a long term interest in doing this type of work, but you need to be able to hit the ground running with the required skills. This is probably not going to lead to long-term full-time work but there is certainly a lot to do over the next few months and then there will be a requirement for ongoing support for new and customised applications over the lifetime of the product.

The new target hardware will use a small colour VGA touchscreen. The existing code is designed for QVGA mono. The new display unit is currently working as a framebuffer device running under a recent Linux kernel (2.6.27).

The current code is all in C (cross-compiled using GCC for a MC68000 target) but everything is quite low level with no OS or standard library support.

The current plan is to migrate the operator interface code to use GTK, but I'm still open to suggestions as the port status of some these libraries is uncertain.

I'm also interested in talking to anyone writing applications for mobile phones for a different project entirely.

Contact me offline if you are interested.
