You're trying to 'sync' your digital life :)

I do this a lot, I switch between a Macbook, Windows netbook, various
Windows and Linux virtual PC, and Android smartphone.

To simplify syncing, I have sold my soul to Google, so I use almost
every product they have both for business and personal. Plus Dropbox
for added flexibility in storing every file I have.

In your case, for example you email, make sure you are connecting
using IMAP rather than any other protocol. This means changes to your
inbox done through the webmail will be the same as seen onThunderbird
and vice versa.

For myself, I have given up on desktop email clients and just use
Firefox everywhere... On the mobile GMail client is sufficient.

They usually still have a small unit either integrated in the screen
or under the table. It probably uses a 'remote terminal'/network PC
technology where the actual computing is done on a server.
