X11 fonts

Immediately do

xset -fp /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi
xset +fp /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi

(the first line is anal-compulsiveness to keep the 100dpi directory
from getting searched twice).

For permanent results under XFree86 you need to edit
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config, search for FontPath, and the changes
you need to make should be obvious.

I don't know how to do this but it may be possible to tell XFree86
what your monitor resolution actually is. For some reason this does
not get communicated by the configuration file. This is worth doing
to get scalable fonts to scalle correctly when given point rather than
pixel sizes.
