While agreeing with you, I must say that the point that _really_
pisses me off is the fact that even if (as you mention) you only need
Word 6, and you need to buy a new computer, you won't find anything with
less than a zillion megs (that's for the gfx card, times by 1e6 to get
an idea of what you'll get on the motherboard), sound cards, modems...
While all this is very nice, and all, I wish I could just get hold of a
decent computer. I just wished that microsoft had been happy with the
640k so people wouldn't be ripped off.
Mind you, I like this sort of brilliant soundcards for a tenner
and stuff like that, but I am on the market for a cheap PC for Word
Processing and stuff like that, and it seems that unless I decided to do
some dodgy deals with some "low life characters" :) I can only buy a P3
with specs that would leave NASA frightened...
