Actually, forget the last (2nd to last?) suggestion, the one about
unconditional formatting. If its that far gone, bin it.


I speak from bitter experience. About 6 mnths ago, my 3.2Gb Quantum
Fireball dropped dead. I resurrected it, and ran SuSE 6.2 on it. However,
anomalies began to crop up, and things started failing inexplicably. Then,
yesterday, it stopped altogether, and a new HDD was required. I am back up
and running, all backups restored, now (I must be, I'm sending this!! :o)

So, believe me, it might work now, but in six months, especially with
Windoze reliability track record, it won't!!

Just my 2 cents (cents? pence, sorry)
