Mmmm, possible, but it shouldn't do. Although, an rpm designed for Caldera
probably shouldn't be used with SuSE type systems. I still maintian the
best way to do it is to get the source code and install it properly ;))

The idea about version numbers is that you can't assume anything about the
differences ;)) The quite often are differences, and while they may not be
major, they don't have to be major for things to stop working!

There shouldn't be, no. Although, there could be ;). To be honest, I
don't use the rpm system myself, I find it to be a little bit of a blunt
tool.
