That's not fair, Al!  He did get the source code---IJG JEPG does not
provide a libtool-ified version, so he got no .sos.

libtool is a bitch.[1]  I've never gotten it to work from scratch,
fortunately 'most everything on Linux gets libtool-ified early and you
can upgrade by using the old build scaffolding---if you already know
what you're doing.

Ah, by the way, I borrowed from you on the TLUG mailing list a few
minutes ago, said something like "There is no such thing as a `core
package', only `core programs' and `core data'.  The problem with
current PMSes is they ignore that."
