[Sheflug] Off subject
Hi,
I'm sorry this is a bit off subject but, as you are mostly sensible people
in appropriate places, I thought this would be the best place to ask...
private replies would probably be the most appropriate rather than bunging
up the list.
My son is wanting to get himself a new career in computing - what is the
best way to approach it?
He is 25, wasted his time at Sheffield University getting a music degree
which he hasn't used since and is currently p****d off with his current job
as an Inspector/croupier in one of our local casinos as the constant night
work doesn't give him any social life and the constant pressure and hassle
are getting to him.
He is very intelligent, good at maths ( you have to be as a croupier when
you have to work out the odds on about a dozen bets in your head and pay
then all out within 2.5 minutes - all multiplication tables up to 35
times!), and has a good grounding in computing, RSA stage !! distinction
etc. He has built up several PC systems from scratch and has done some basic
networking stuff.
So, bearing in mind that he will have to keep working to live while he does
any pre-job training etc., what would be his best way of getting started?
Any advice would be welcome. Thanks,
Ian
