This will probably be from a ram disk, so you'll need to mount the actual
home system. This will, more than likely, entail a 'mknod..' to generate the
/dev/ entry for your root partition on the hard-drive, a directory in /mnt
and a 'mount .. ' command to mount the partition. This is one of the reasons
why you can run rpm chroot - fixing screwed RedHat installs.

The easier option is just to let your machine boot. If you're running
something normal (i.e., not Debian), you will get a lilo: prompt, at which
you can just type in 'linux single', rather than all that left-shift
nonsense ;) See Stephen's previous email. Once you're in single user mode
(denoted by a '#' prompt), just edit /etc/inittab again - it's the real
thing this time ;)
