Re: [Sheflug] Boot messages
Thanks Guennadi,
I'm trying to set up RTAI for a machine control system. At the moment it is
running on 2.2.18 with rtl-3.1 but there are a few problems still with the
realtime extensions which are giving a few hiccoughs. So, as the control
program (EMC) has now been developed well enough to recognise RTAI, I
thought I'd have a play with it and try to port it to the latest release (as
you know RTAI hasn't cought up with the 2.4.8 kernel yet). However, before I
can do that I need to get the kernel/RTAI installation working!
The installation is based initially on the RedHat distro but this kernel is
built from virgin sources from ftp.kernel.org and the RTAI site. I am
guessing from what I have learned now that the problem probably is with the
network stuff as the machine hangs immediately after saying 'bringing up
interface lo' and before it gives me the 'OK' on that. Initially I'll try
taking out the eth0 entry in conf.modules (or modules.conf whichever) and
see if it will get any further then.
Thanks for the tip on the RTAI mailing list, I wasn't aware of it - do you
have the address please?
Ian
