As I understand it, a further problem with the Promise RAID cards is that
they aren't really RAID cards - the RAID stuff is done in the driver; the
card itself is really just a (collection of) fast IDE controller(s). All
very ugly. I've been thinking about a 3ware RAID card myself, but they're
damnably hard to find in .nz. The distributor don't bother replying to
queries :\
Must go see if I can find a Highpoint distributor and read up on their
cards.
