I cant say about Mandrake but recent distributions of Redhat and SuSE are pretty intensive on the
hardware, whatever you install stick on the minimal packages and then configure from X.  If the box
is going to be a server, KDE, Gnome and other nice packages will slow you down. I would say go with
a recent SuSE, but thats just because that is what I have had the most success with. Also, if you
think you can get more RAM in the box then its worth the investment.  You can never have enough RAM.

Does Mandarke still ship with Nautillus?
