You can print to the standard print using a command line switch (without
bring up the GUI), similarly there is a headless mode for scripting
(again sans GUI). I would hesitate to call it a command line tool ;),
but it's definitely useful.

Reading RTF is no problem at all. * -> RTF is a common route, because
RTF is well understood, and if you name the RTF file as a .DOC, MS Word
will silently convert it, giving the impression it was originally a
.DOC.

wv2 is still under development, I think, although apparently Abiword is
using/will use it. What would be good is a simple wv2 cli app that
inspects the .DOC and dumps it to XML. That would probably be a
reasonably easy project for someone wanting to do something useful in
C/C++.
