It's not so much that -- can you imagine your general tech support person 
trying to support Linux, given the number of distributions, configurations, 
variations and setups that exist...it's bad enough with the number of 
Windows variations.

As for DNS, I avoid the problem by running BIND locally... :-)

I've not had any problems with access at all; the connectivity's been fine, 
with only the odd hiccup (worst was a week downtime when the cable itself 
deteriorated and had to be re-pulled. Not much anyone could do about that).
