[Sheflug] Swap problems
For some reason, my Debian box doesn't seem to have a swap partition
configured, although it was configured and partitioned on initial system
installation as far as I'm concerned.
I want to create a /swap partition but fdisk /dev/hdb reports
"You will not be able to write the partition table.
Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI or OSF
disklabel
Building a new DOS disklabel. Changes will remain in memory only,
until you decide to write them. After that, of course, the previous
content won't be recoverable."
Don't know why this should be but could anyone give me any help in
rectifying the situation.
I know I could create a swap file but this isn't as efficient as a swap
partition is it?
BTW, the box is physically in London and I'm not, so that's a consideration
when it comes to tinkering.
Cheers
