There's been an update to ssh on SuSE this month

http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/updates/90_i386.html

which might have altered somethings

ssh -v -v user [at] your.host

might give some info at where its breaking.

Have you tried using fou4s (fast online update for SuSE )
http://fou4s.gaugusch.at/
instead of YAST Update to add patches.

It'll download the patches every day via cron, and then get an email to root
when they need installing. You then get to pick and choose the ones you
want
