I will give it a pop tonight, if all else fails I think I will give either
Gentoo or Fedora Core2 a go, Mandrake was on a magazine dvd and was the
easiest choice at the time.

The other thing I have just thought of is was to try editing the xf86config4
file and going back to the built in 'nv' drivers and seeing what happens, I
will lose opengl features, but I rarely use them anyway.

Looks like I have a fun evening ahead!!!
