[sheflug] insurance - offtopic?

Dear All

Sorry if this is off topic, but does anyone have any thoughts about
insurance for a part time sole trader doing web things with OSS? A
couple of things have come up which have made me stop and think. The
first was losing a friend's emails for 3 days after moving the hosting
for his website and forgetting about his emails. Entirely my fault and
not a mistake I plan to make again. I wasn't charging for this. The
second was for hosting for a domain. I renewed the hosting for a .org
domain, was charged (by easyspace) and I found out today that they
didn't renew it. I was charging someone for domain registration, the
website etc and he's understandably annoyed. This time it wasn't my
fault, but there's not much we can do about it as someone else has got
the domain now. He quite understandably care about easyspace.

I've been told professional indemnity insurance starts at about £500 a
year which is a very large percentage of my turnover. Does anyone know
of any way round the problem?

Thanks

David Willington
