I don't think I can give you any real help.  I haven't seen this one 
since SuSE 6.xx or 7.xx.  Shows you what Novell have been doing just 
lately :)   Only thing I can do is point you at this...

Which isn't much help.  I've always had problems with Linux and my own 
Epson Stylus Color 300 printer.   I get a similar fault.   If you 
want to upgrade from SuSE 10.0 don't go to 10.1.  There's a lot wrong 
with it.  I'm running OpenSuSE 10.2 on a box over here and all that 
was wrong with OpenSuSE 10.1 has been fixed.   CDs from...
