Is it really necessary to extend the hda3 by the 5 gig? What you could
do would be to make a new extended partition, and put 2 logical partitions
on it (or at least 2 ;). One would be for the new swap space and the other(s)
could be used to free up space wherever you need it in your directory tree.

That would be a hell of a lot easier (and safer) than messing around with
resize2fs on a live partition.
