Try PostgreSQL.
PostgreSQL v7.1 on will do outer joins - this was one of the main
complaints I'd heard about earlier versions.
http://www.postgresql.org/ has all the info.
Of course, if you have pots of money, Oracle would be the way to go,
but PostgreSQL is some what friendlier on the money side of things :-)
