After this long on ShefLUG I'm glad it's no longer the case ;) Sadly,
the archives don't appear to be complete in the early days, although I
suspect it may not have been actively 'caught' in them days! My, it was
a quiet list in 1999!

Sadly, some of the old goats who inhabited the list then appear not to
have been removed - we'll have to do something about that sometime.


Back on topic; checking the authentication mechanism never hurts - I can
never remember whether it's supposed to be PAP or CHAP. Also, see if
pppd is returning an error code - 'man pppd' lists most common ones and
it's actually quite helpful, as man pages go!
