haha - thanks for the kind offer Richard... but it has taken me 8 months
to get the modem to work in this distro... and I still can't get on the
net yet. I feel it would be a bit like starting the race again, if I
wiped my ix partition clean and started with another distro. :) I was
actually given a boxed copy of Debian (version 'slink & a half' it says
on the disk) that I was thinking of installing, but i am reading the
manual first, so I can get everything right first time with that.
Linux does seem to offer far more than windows ever could, if I can
learn to harness its power... the problem is that after 8 months, I
still can't get the printer, the sound card, or the scsi devices to
work. The internet seems almost within my grasp. I have heard about star
office, yet don't have a clue how to install packages yet... I was
leaving that until I can get the printer working. :) After that, I
wouldn't mind learning how to get Samba going. Oh well - all in due
course, I guess. With windows I just turn it on and it works... well...
mostly, for most of the time. haha.

Thanks,
Damian.
