Caldera's not bad, although I don't know much about it, but it might be
that it's a little bit out of date. I'm not sure whether Caldera are
intending OpenLinux to be a 'users' desktop either - it's really more of
a development environment I think. You may find a different distro
slightly more to your taste, depending on what you are wanting to do
with it.

Don't worry about it. A lot of people get started on the list by asking
'muppet' questions - if we do a good job, they turn into competent users
and start contributing back. That way, knowledge about GNU/Linux systems
spreads :) Others, like Baz, stay muppets, but there's no helping some
people :P (kidding ;).
Documentation has never been a strong point of Linux, but once you get
used to the way it's all laid out you'll actually find it's a lot more
in depth than, say, Windows documentation.
Learning to use GNU/Linux appears very hard at first - and, in a lot of
ways it is. But, once you get a bit more used to it, and have it set up
to your personal taste, you'll find it grows on you more and more. I
can't imagine not using my Gnome desktop now - I find it a lot more
productive than a Windows environment now, and find being presented with
a Windows desktop somewhat claustrophobic!
Cheers,
Alex.
