Yes. You can start by asking for some topic explaining, and on reading
the manual, you then need the manual explaining first! One of the few
downsides of so much documentation is that sometimes it is a little hard
to read if you don't already know something about the subject. I think
HOWTOs are an excellent reference, though, which tend not to expect any
prior knowledge. For instance, I have NO IDEA how sendmail works (I use
exim on my mailserver. Much nicer) but I have configured it just by
following HOWTOs and walk throughs.
And if you don't have time to dig and delve, let someone else do it for
you! I don't blame you TBH. I sometimes do this. As Richard's sig says,
"Those who shun unix are forced to reinvent it". The same applies for
tribal knowledge. "Those who shun the knowledge of others are forced to
RTFM forever :)"
